2.4. If a vacancy occurs in the EC positions prior to the annual election, a special election will occur. The special election will follow the same guidelines as the annual elections. It may be held at the next general membership meeting or at a special membership meeting specifically called for that purpose.

ARTICLE IV
Membership

1. MEMBERSHIP.

1.1. Membership into the Chiefs’ Group is automatic for Chief Master Sergeants or equivalent (E-9s) in the US Armed Forces Services, active or retired, and Chief Master Sergeant selects.

1.2. Honorary membership may be extended as provided in this Constitution/By-Laws. The Honorary Chief Induction Procedures are as follows:

1.2.1. Purpose. Selection as an Honorary Chief is given to those individuals who have gone above and beyond in the performance of their duties in order to benefit the enlisted corps. It may be awarded to officers or civilians without regard to rank or position. It is NOT given to someone because of the position held.

1.2.2. Who May Nominate. Any member in good standing of the Dyess Chiefs’ Group

1.2.3. Nomination Process. The nomination process consists of an announcement of intent to nominate and a formal nomination and requires a minimum of two regularly scheduled meetings of the group to complete.

1.2.3.1. Meeting One. At this meeting, the person making the nomination announces the nominee’s name, position, and may provide a brief written or oral supporting information statement. This is done in order to give those members who do not know the nominee time to conduct research and make a decision.
